Cigar Story Time

Weird, Crazy, Awkward Cigar Stories

Welcome back to the Cigar Guys Podcast, where we delve into the fascinating world of cigars and share some of our most entertaining experiences. Joining us today are our usual hosts: Alex, Jared, Mark, and Zach, who each bring a unique perspective and expertise to the conversation.

In this episode, we begin by discussing the cigars we’re smoking today, with Mark sharing his experience with an H. Upmann and AJ Fernandez collaboration. Unfortunately, he discovers a hole in the bottom of the cigar, which leads to a debate about the quality of H. Upmann cigars. Zach, on the other hand, is smoking a Romeo e Julieta Vintage Toro, while Jared tries a Rocky Patel for the first time.

As we light up our cigars, we begin sharing some of our weirdest, craziest, and most awkward cigar stories. One such tale involves a cigar lounge in Tampa, Florida, which had a severe smoke problem. The smokiness was so intense that it was nearly impossible to see ten feet in front of you. Despite the smoke, we managed to enjoy our cigars and make the best of the situation.

Another story involves a customer at a cigar lounge who, after having a few too many drinks, decided to throw an ashtray at another patron. The incident led to the customer being trespassed from the establishment, but we were left wondering what would drive someone to such an extreme action.

We also discuss the concept of private cigar lounges and their membership perks, such as private access, discounts on cigars and drinks, and even the use of personal lockers. These exclusive clubs can come with a hefty price tag, but many cigar aficionados find them to be worth the investment.

We then move on to discussing the unique culture surrounding cigars and the various events and occasions that often involve their consumption. From weddings to concerts, it seems that cigars are a staple at any celebration. This is particularly true for Albanian weddings, where tradition plays a significant role in the festivities.

Our conversation takes a detour as we recount a time when we decided to make our own raki, a traditional Eastern European fruit brandy. We recall the great plum-buying escapade, where we purchased nearly an entire shelf of plums from a local grocery store to use in our homemade concoction. The result? A unique and memorable spirit that reminded us of the importance of tradition and camaraderie.

Throughout the podcast, we also share stories of our personal experiences in the world of cigars, from Zach’s first meeting with Jared and their shared passion for software engineering to the various characters we’ve encountered at cigar lounges. From the man with the custom-made pinky ring to the ever-elusive yellow-tinted sunglasses-wearing Zach, our experiences are a testament to the diverse and intriguing world of cigar enthusiasts.

As we reflect on our stories, we’re reminded of the powerful connections that can be formed over a shared interest in cigars. The friendships we’ve forged and the experiences we’ve shared have not only enriched our lives but also deepened our appreciation for the art and culture of cigar smoking.

So, whether you’re a seasoned cigar aficionado or just starting your journey, we invite you to join us as we continue to explore the fascinating world of cigars. From the history and craftsmanship behind each stick to the unforgettable stories and experiences that accompany them, there’s always something new to discover.

As always, we encourage our listeners and readers to share their own unique and memorable cigar stories with us. You can reach out to us through our website, social media channels, or even by leaving a comment below. In the meantime, we encourage you to continue exploring the wonderful world of cigars. Whether you prefer to indulge in a luxurious smoke at an upscale lounge or enjoy a simple, quiet moment with a cigar at home, remember to savor the experience and appreciate the artistry that goes into each carefully crafted stick.
